Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you accept insurance?
At this time, I do not accept any private or commercial insurance. I am currently working on my credential with Highmark and hope to begin at the start of 2025.
  • How much do you charge for sessions?
Starting on January 1, 2025, my standard rate for a regular 50-minute session will be $125. For our first session which is the initial intake session, the rate will be $140 as this is a more detailed interview which typically lasts between 60-80 minutes in length.
  • Do you offer in person sessions?
Yes! I do offer in person sessions and prefer to meet in person for sessions if possible.
  • Do you offer telehealth/video sessions?
Yes! I will continue to offer telehealth sessions to those who need it. It provides a great back-up solution in the event that either you or I get sick - we can still meet virtually!
  • How do telehealth sessions work? Do I need Zoom or another video platform?
Telehealth sessions are conducted through the Simple Practice platform. You will receive an email reminder with a unique video link for your session and at the start of your session, you can join the video appointment, much like Zoom or other video conferencing platforms. For more information on what to expect and how to navigate the telehealth sessions through Simple Practice, check out this guide.
  • What is Simple Practice?
Simple Practice is the HIPAA-compliant electronic health record (EHR) system that I use for scheduling, paperwork, secure messaging, billing and payments, as well as my telehealth platform. It's convenient and keeps all of your information in one place.
  • What is the Client Portal?
The Client Portal is where you, the client, can access your paperwork, request appointments, and manage your billing and payments through Simple Practice. Check out this guide for more information.
  • What should I expect getting started with you for counseling?
The first session is our intake session where I will be asking you questions about the many facets of your life and what you have been experiencing that has led you to seek counseling at this time. Our second session, we will work together to create goals for our time together to keep us working toward small, achievable steps forward. We will discuss both personal goals and therapeutic goals for the short term (1-2 months from now) and long term (6 months to a year from now) and ways that we can work toward those goals in our upcoming sessions.
  • How long should I expect to be in therapy?
My hope is that we will frequently evaluate how you feel like therapy is going for you, if there is anything we can change or adjust, and have the conversation at the right times when it seems appropriate to move to less frequent sessions and/or end therapeutic treatment together.
  • How frequently do you meet with clients?
It depends on the individual needs of each client as well as availability. I typically recommend weekly sessions to start if possible, but bi-weekly (every other week) sessions are also quite common with many of my clients. Over time, we can reevaluate what is best for you and potentially shift to once a month sessions or even periodically schedule maintenance sessions as needed.
