Individual Counseling
Every individual is unique and the individual counseling experience should be catered to the needs of each person.
Individual counseling is person-centered with the goal of helping you to make sense of what is going on within yourself as well as how you interact with the world around you.
My approach to individual counseling is informed by techniques and principles of rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), mindfulness and acceptance-based therapy, neuroscience, experiential therapy, choice theory/reality therapy, and attachment theory.
Life can be so busy that we forget about the good work of slowing down and taking time to listen to our inner self.
We often lose sight of what is truly important to us, and we may even lose our sense of who we are. At times, we just need a few new tools in our toolbox to learn how manage our mental health outside of therapy. Other times, we may need extended periods of reflection and processing. It is all beneficial for our overall well-being in any season of life.
I work with a variety of issues and mental health concerns, and I hope to provide you with a safe space to reflect, explore and understand what you are experiencing from a different perspective.
Couples Counseling
Have you been struggling in your relationship or marriage?
Or maybe you have a solid foundation, but you just need a little fine tuning and a new perspective?
Maybe you have experienced deep hurt and desire to restore those broken places.
Couples counseling is a great place to start for any couple at any point on that spectrum!
In couples counseling, I draw from techniques and principles of the Gottman Method and Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy. We will work on ways to express, communicate and understand what each partner is experiencing and work toward your goals and growth as a couple.
Teletherapy
Due to COVID-19, all sessions will take place through secure video-based teletherapy.
Teletherapy is simply virtual mental health counseling from the comfort of your home!
You may hear the term telehealth used as well, and that is just the broader term used for any remote healthcare services.
I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform called SimplePractice where sessions will be conducted.
